Cong leader murder: Accused is yet to be held

Patna, Mar 7: The Bihar government has assured the state legislative council that the criminals involved in the killing of a Congress leader, Mithilesh Kumar, at Madhepura on Tuesday, would be nabbed soon.

Replying to a question of Congress member Mahachandra Prasad Singh, State Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav assured the House that the government had already directed the police superintendent of Madhepura to personally supervise the case and ensure the arrest of the criminals at the earliest.

Dissatisfied with the minister's reply, Mr Singh demanded from the government to give specific reply on the steps taken to arrest the criminals so far.
''What the minister stated was nothing new, and all had appeared in newspapers'', Mr Singh pointed out and demanded a CBI probe into the incident. He was soon joined by the other opposition members including the Congress and RJD, which alleged the government was insensitive on the issue.

In his bid to pacify the furious members, the minister said that it was too early to say that police had not taken prompt action as investigation was on covering all aspects.'' No personal enmity has come to light during the investigation'', he added.
