Ch Prem Singh has undermined post of Assy Speaker: Charti Lal Goel

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) Former Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly Charti Lal Goel today said Assembly Speaker Prem Singh had undermined his post by attending and participating in the executive committee of the Delhi Pradesh Congress as per media reports.

''The moment anybody is appointed on the exalted post of Speaker of a state or a National Assembly, he has to remain neutral by resigning from the primary membership of the party on whose ticket he or she was elected. This Code of Conduct is followed in all democracies of the World,'' Mr Goel said in a statement.

The Speaker should clear the stand in the matter on whether he wanted to continue as Speaker and follow the international Code of Conduct or remain in active politics, he added.
