BJP MP protests medico's abduction
Gorakhpur, Mar 7 (UNI) A mob led by BJP MP Yogi Adityanath today sat on a 'dharna' at Golghar Chetna crossing here over the abduction of psychiatrist Dr D C Maddhesia.
The BJP MP blamed the district administration for the doctor's abduction.
The first phase of protest was launched today, while the second would start with hunger strike tomorrow, Mr Adityanath said.
The pharmacists had called a Gorakhpur bandh against the kidnapping of the medico.
The bandh was also supported by all trade, social and cultural organisations.
Following the bandh, patients were faced with problems as all pharmacies, nursing homes and pathalogy centres remained closed.
Even the medical services in emergency wards were paralysed.
On March 1, masked gunmen kidnapped Dr Maddhesia and three others on Gorakhpur-Deoria highway.
Meanwhile, IG (Gorakhpur zone) G L Meena said police was making efforts to rescue the victim from the abductors.
Owing to the reports that Dr Maddhesia was taken to the neighbouring Bihar by the abductors, the police here have sought the assistance of the Bihar police into the case ,the IG said.
