UPA passing waiver burden on future governments: BJP
New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) Stating that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had not given any indication on how the government propose to waive the Rs 60,000 farm loans, the BJP today said it was very clear the UPA coalition will pass on the burden to future governments.
BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the PM in his reply to Lok Sabha had given enough indications that the UPA would claim credit for the loan waiver while it did not reveal as to how it was going to do it.
When the NDA comes to power, it will be in a position to give a better deal to the farmers without burdening the future governments, he said.
He said Dr Singh's attack on the NDA in the Lok Sabha was needless and to cover the failures of the UPA which was in the last lap of its term.
The prices of essential commodities during the UPA regime ranged between 30 to 200 per cent and the claim of the Prime Minister can't fool the people, he said.
Dr Singh despite the NDA's insistance had not given a date by which the mercy petition of condemned prisoner Mohammad Afzal Guru would be decided. The intention behind the delay was crystal clear and such moves will not fool the public, he added.
