Six drown while taking holy bath

Chittoor, Mar 6 (UNI) Six students drowned while taking a holy bath on the eve of Mahashivratri at two different places in the district today.

Police said two students, both aged below 11 years, drowned at Swarnamuki river near Srikalahasthiswara swamy temple, while taking a holy bath.

The bodies were identified as that of Saideekshit and Kalyan Reddy who hailed from Srikalahasthi.

Srikalahasti MLA, S C V Naidu visited the spot and consoled the families of the deceased.

In another tragedy, four students, all aged below 12 years, drowned while taking bath in a water tank near Arigilavaripalli in Chandragiri Mandal today.

The incident, occurred when a ten-member-group of students belonging to Aligilavari palli, were taking a bath in an agricultural water tank.

The deceased were identified as Manoj(ten), Prasad(12), Kiran(nine) and Pawan(ten).
