Rocket launcher seized from foreign couple

Chennai, Mar 6 (UNI) Customs officials have seized a rocket launcher from a car belonging to a European couple, who were later detained by the police here.

Police sources said the rocket launcher was seized from their car, which was shipped from Malaysia and reached the Chennai Port last night.

The couple, who were on a tour of South Asian countries, told the customs authorities that they had purchased the rocket launcher, banned for imports, from an antique shop during their recent visit to Cambodia.

After interrogation, the couple were let off and police authorities informed the 'Q' branch police, dealing with terrorist and extremist cases, about the seizure.
