Introduce Goondas Act in UT: Narayanasamy
Puducherry, Mar 6 (UNI) AICC general secretary V Narayanasamy today reitrated his demand to introduce Goondas Act to contain rowdy menace in the Union Territory.
Addressing a press conference here, he said he had put forth the demand at a meeting chaired by Union Minister of State for Home Prakash Jaiswal here last month.
Stating that the minister had asked the territorial administration to take necessary action, Mr Narayansamy hoped that the administration would take necessary steps to introduce Goondas Act in the coming budget session of the Assembly.
He said he had taken part in a meeting chaired by Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramdoss yesterday to finalise the allocation for rural health scheme and Rs ten crore was allocated to the Union Territory for 2008-09.
Mr Narayansamy said he had sought enhancement of the amount to Rs 50 crore.
