HC orders notice to TN Govt on MLA house attack case
Chennai, Mar 6 (UNI) The Madras High Court today ordered a notice to the Tamil Nadu government on a petition filed by an AIADMK MLA, seeking a CBI inquiry into the attack on his house by some hooligans.
Admitting the petition, Justice V Dhanapalan directed the Home Secretary, Director General of Police, Superintendent of Police, Tanjore District, and Director and Additional Director-General of CBI to reply within two weeks.
Petitioner V P Kalairajan submitted that on the midnight of April five, 2007, some hoolingans entered his house at Orathanadu in Tanjore district and attacked his father, brother-in-law and caused damage to property worth Rs 50,000.
He contented that though the Orthanadu police registered a case based on a complaint filed by his father, no action was taken so far and the culprits traced.
The petitioner also sought a direction from the Court to the state police to hand over the case to the CBI and direct it to submit a report within a time-frame.
