Five-member committee to check casinos constituted in Goa
Panaji, Mar 6 (UNI) The Goa government has constituted a 5-member committee, headed by undersecretary (home), to monitor the functioning of the off-shore and land-based casinos in the state.
Its members are Siddhivinayak Naik (undersecretary-Home), Mangaldas Dessai (Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch CID), Mahesh Goakar (DSP), Pravin Vats (CI) and S Kotawale (technical expert).
The committee, constituted recently, has powers to inspect casinos and to check malpractices including those not related to gambling, if any, both of the organisers, the customers and even the machines. It is empowered to impose fines, in case of any mischief, on both sides, sources said.
