Assembly Secretary appointed Returning Officer for RS polls

Chennai, Mar 6 (UNI) The Election Commission of India has appointed Tamil Nadu Assembly Secretary M Selvaraj as the Returning Officer for the March 26 Rajya Sabha polls in the state.

An official release here today said the Deputy Secretary of the Assembly would be the Assistant Returning Officer.

The nominations for the polls would begin on March eight and March 15 was the last date for filing the nominations.

Scrutiny would take place on March 17 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination was March 19.

Elections, if necessary, would be held on March 26.
