State economic growth rate declined
Shimla, Mar 5 (UNI) The State recorded 8.5 per cent economic growth rate in the ongoing financial year, a decline of 0.7 per cent from 9.2 per cent achieved the last year, according to the Economic Survey Report placed in Himachal Pradesh assembly today. The survey report pointed out that there was an increase in State Gross Domestic Product (GSDP) of 11.3 per cent. The GSDP was Rs 25471 crore in 2005-06 and it was Rs 28358 crore in year 2006-07.
The per capita Income at current prices witnessed an increase of 8.4 per cent and stood at Rs 36657.
The State generated 3197 million units of electricity, an increase of 10.5 per cent.
The survey report says that the fruit production came down by 46.9 per cent for the year 2006-07 while agriculture sector's growth declined by 4.2 per cent.
Finance and Real Estate showed a growth of 16.4 per cent.
The report points out that the secondary sector showed a positive growth. The Manufacturing sector recorded A business of Rs 2737 Crore with an increase of 11.3 per cent, construction of Rs 4736 crore, an increase of 18.6 per cent and Electricity, Gas and water supply recorded Rs 1738 crore and increase of 16.0 per cent.
Indicators show whole sales price index for 2006-07 was 5.5 and it was 4.6 in 2005-06.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Industrial Workers of Himachal Pradesh was 7 points for the previous year while it was at 4.6 per cent in year 2005-06.
