SC, ST loans waived by govt
Hyderabad, Mar 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said overdue loans taken through SC and ST Cooperative Finance Corporations might be waived on the lines of small and marginal farmers.
The total amount waived comes to around Rs 1108 crore for SCs, Rs 104 crore for STs. The total beneficiaries were around 14.25 lakh SCs and 11 lakh STs.
Dr Reddy also agreed to provide collateral security for SCs and STs for bank loans. Scholarships to SCs and STs would also be paid in time without delay.
He said the government would construct houses under 'INDIRAMMA' scheme for SCs and STs. Tribal Development Authority was formed to look into the problems of the tribals, he added.
The Chief Minister said power dues of SCs and STs would work out to Rs 183 crore.
