Relocation of polling stations for delimitation begins in TN

Chennai, Mar 5 (UNI) The exercise of relocation of polling stations due to delimitation of constituencies has been initiated in Tamil Nadu and the process was likely to be completed by next month.

Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta told reporters here today that field verification to check if polling areas have been relocated in correlation with the new Assembly constituencies would be taken up in May.

The identification of surplus and missing names in the electoral rolls would also be done in May and action would be taken either for deletion or inclusion, he added.

Mr Gupta said consequent to the Election Commission of India's meeting with CEOs last month, it had communicated a number of formats for quantitative and qualitative analysis of electors' data, monitoring EPIC coverage and preparation of photo rolls. All this was followed in the State.
