Orissa to focus on development of MSMEs: Naveen

Bhubaneswar, Mar 5 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said development of micro, small and medium enterprises will continue to be the prime focus for optimising the multiplier effect of the current industrialisation in the state.

He said special efforts were being made to promote maximum possible forward and backward linkages between the mega industries and the MSMEs through development of ancillary and downstream industries by setting up of sector specific industrial parks.

Inaugurating the 4th Entrepreneurs Week on the birth anniversary of the Doyen of Entrepreneurship in Orissa Biju Patnaik the Chief Minister said his government has already notified the constitution of Plant level Consultative Committees(PLCCs) for the large and mega industries and project in the private sectors.

He said that agriculture being the linchpin of Orissa's economy, the state government had given due importance as a strong resource base for value addition, employment generation and economic growth.

Mr Patnaik said keeping the agro potential of Orissa in view, maximum focus was being given to augment the productivity and expand transportation and storage network toprovide utmost support for adding value in the agro and food processing industries.
