Honda launches 'Aviator' in Silicon city of India

Bangalore, Mar 5 (UNI) Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) Pvt Ltd, World's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, today launched its 'Aviator' a new premium scooter, in the Silicon city of India.

Speaking after the launch Company Sales and Marketing Head N K Rattan said here that the new premium scooter, sixth in the series, will help not only to retain company's leadership in India's growing market but also boost its sales rate in the two-wheeler scooter market segment.

He said that despite sluggish in the market in the country which had witnessed a decline in over 5 per cent last year, the HMSI was able to retain its growth rate and it was expected to jump to 29 per cent this year.

He said that 'Aviator' which was released today would satisfy all the needs of the new-age customers and will set a new standard in the scooter category. During 2007-08 the company has sold over 880,000 scooters and motor cycles and targeted to touch 10 lakhs mark in 2008-09 including 7 lakhs scooters and 3 lakhs motorcycles.

While HMSI enjoys an overall two-wheeler market share of about 11 per cent it commands over 54 per cent of market share in the scooter segment, he added.

Stating that with increased standard of living, the need for products expressing strong individuality is rising and 'Aviator' is the perfect answer for buyers who were fond of superior vehicle ownership experience. The 102 cc 4-stroke engine Aviator, not only offers smooth and silky performance but also consume less fuel, he added.
