Haryana District Municipal Councils to have Deputy CEOs

Chandigarh, Mar 5 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to appoint Deputy Chief Executive Officers in all offices of District Municipal Councils so as to improve efficiency and accelerate the pace of developmental works in rural areas.

This was stated by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh while talking to mediapersons in Hisar today.

He said that according to the report of the 3rd Finance Commission, in addition to the allocated budget for rural areas, Rs 900 crore would be spent for the development of villages in the state.

Mr Dharambir said the panchayats would be able to get developmental works of upto Rs three lakh conducted at their own level and of Rs three lakh to Rs 10 lakh through tender system and of more than Rs 10 lakh through tender system at the State level.

He said that a village level committee had been constituted to allot plots of 100 sq yrds to members belonging to Scheduled Castes and those poor who did not have a shelter to live in.

Those eligible to get plots of 100 sq yrds would have to submit their applications by March 31.
