Frontline NLFT militant shot dead in Tripura

Agartala, Mar 5: A front line activist of the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) outfit was killed in an encounter yesterday in remote Tuikurma areas in Atharamura hill range of West Tripura, police said here today.

According to the police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans recovered one Chinese grenade and one jungle cap of the outfit and some other incriminating documents from deceased extremist. They said, acting on a tip-off from the sixth battalion, the TSR had laid an ambush at Tuikurma cherra to intercept the gang. When the TSR personnel challenged them, the ultras opened fire indiscriminately.

The TSR personnel retaliated and later the body of the ultra Ranjan Debbarma(30) found.
