'Dera' owner shoots down two robbers in Punjab

Ferozepur, Mar 5 (UNI) Two robbers were shot dead and another was injured when they attempted loot the owner of a 'Dera' in the town last night, police today stated.

According to reports the 'dera' owner, Prem Singh opened fire from his licensed weapon when the three robbers, including a woman asked him to hand owner the cash in his possession. The owner instead of handing over the cash took out his revolver and opened fire, killing two of the thieves, identified as Bihari (35) and Pally (22).

The woman accompanying them, who was identified as Sangita (25) sustained bullet injuries and was admitted to the hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the thieves were unarmed. The police has taken Prem Singh into custody and are further investigating the matter.
