Corruption cases against Zardari dropped

Islamabad, Mar 5 (UNI) A court today dismissed seven corruption cases against Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and one of his close aides.

The Rawalpindi Accountability court dropped five graft cases against Mr Zardari and also ordered the restoration of his frozen assets and mills. It also dropped two cases against Zardari's close aide Rehman Malik.

The cases were related to a contentious deal for the import of tractors, and alleged amassing of wealth beyond known sources of income.

The court also declared redundant, all the interim judgments given by the Accountability court during the consecutive hearings regarding these cases.

The Accountability Court delivered the above judgements in the light of Apex court's directions regarding the National Reconciliation Ordinance, (NRO),2007.
