Book on Sunita Williams released

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) Publications Division's latest book on space science titled- 'Pioneer of Space Travel: Sunita Williams' written by renowned science writer and senior scientist Dr. Subodh Mahanti was released here at a function here today.

The book, released by Secretary, Ministry of Information&Broadcasting Asha Swarup in a function, outlines the events that made Sunita Williams an icon.

Ms Swarup also inaugurated the renovated and remodeled Sales Emporium and Book Gallery of Publications Division.

Conforming to the Division's modernisation policy, the book gallery has computerised billing system in place and a spacious visitors' lobby to create a buyer-friendly ambience.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Swarup said in today's age of consumerism presentation of a book was as important as its content and the Division was successfully bringing out quality books that are attractive too.

Talking about the book, the Secretary said Sunita Williams was an inspiration and a role model for the young generation.

The author of the book said today's children were turning away from the world science, and so through the book he had tried to increase their interest in one of the most challenging frontiers of science.

Welcoming the guests, Additional Director General (in-charge) of Publications Division Veena Jain said the release of the book just a few days before the International Women's Day, was also a humble tribute to all women achievers.

Joint Secretary (P&A) in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Stuti Kacker was also present on the occasion.
