CRPF jawan commits suicide in Kashmir
Srinagar, Mar 5: A constable of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) committed suicide in the Kashmir Valley early today by shooting himself with his service weapon.
A senior officer of the 137 battalion CRPF said constable Mahaveer Singh Lamba of G-Company posted at Panchayat Bhawan Zakoora on the outskirts of the city shot himself with his service weapon. Mahaveer Singh died before he could be taken to the hospital.

was
not
immediately
known
why
the
constable
took
such
an
extreme
step,
the
officer
said,
adding
the
police
has
taken
up
the
investigation.
The
trend
of
taking
this
extreme
step
by
the
security
forces
has
not
shown
any
decline
even
after
authorities
introduced
Yoga
and
Art
of
Living
sessions
to
help
troops
to
come
out
from
the
stress.
More than two dozen security force personnel, including some senior officers, had committed suicide in the Jammu and Kashmir during the past two years. An equal number were killed by their colleagues during the same period.
Officials said family dispute and work stress are some of the reasons for forcing security force personnel to end their lives.
