11 kanwarias killed, 12 injured as truck overturns in Hathras

Agra, Mar 5 (UNI) At least 11 kanwarias were killed and over 12 others grievously injured, when a speeding truck, ferrying them, overturned in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh.

The driver of the truck lost control over the wheels on Sikandramau road near Khomgari Temple late last night, Superintendent of police, Hathras, Abhimanyu Tripathi told UNI.

He said, eight pedestrians were killed on the spot and three others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital early this morning.

The injured were recuperating at hospital.

The deceased were identified as Ashok, Hari Shankar, Kamal Singh, Surendra, Manoj, Dilip, Mahendra and Champa.

Bodies had been sent for autopsy.
