YSR charges Oppn with stalling irrigation project works
Hyderabad, Mar 4 (UNI) Charging the Opposition parties with trying to obstruct irrigation projects taken up in a big way since the Congress came to power, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said they should stop politicising development works.
According to an official release here, in an interaction with the Congress MLAs at Assembly premises after the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) MLAs resigned from the Assembly and the Council, Dr Reddy said people of the State were welcoming government's efforts in completing the project works.
But, the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was neither supporting the government nor did anything during its 17-year-rule in the State for the benefit of farmers, he said adding government lands were being sold in a transparent manner to procure funds for completion of projects.
Alleging the previous TDP Government sold the lands at throwaway prices and misused the money, Dr Reddy said Former President A P J Abdul Kalam, AICC President Sonia Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi hailed the government for taking up the projects and successful implementation of the NREGP in the State.
He said, "I am a public servant besides Chief Minister of the State. I would continue to serve the people and will not compromise on the development of the State." UNI AP GM 2025
