UP Assembly adjourned as opposition grouped against govt

Lucknow, Mar 4 (UNI) The entire opposition grouped up in the state assmebly today on various issues and created unruly scenes forcing speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar to adjourn the House for over an hour.

The question hour was wiped out owing to vociferous scenes created by the main Samajwadi Party, BJP, Congress and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) members.

As the House sat for the day, the entire opposition was on its feet, some of them trouped into the well of the House raising anti-government slogans.

The SP members were demanding lodging FIR against the District Police Chief of Etawah, the native town of the leader of oposition Mulayam Singh Yadav, where a boy Mukesh Yadav was killed in the police firing during a party demonstration on January 9. They were asking execution of a local court order for filing FIR against the police officer in the matter.

The Congress members were protesting publication of an advertisment by Mayawati government against some proposals of the Union budget. They argued the government money could not be used to further its political gains.

BJP and RLD members were volatile on the recent statement of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati in a rally at Karnal in Haryana where she espoused the cause of non-Jat Chief Minister there.

Despite repeated appeals from the chair to maintain order, the House remained engulfed in the din forcing the Speaker to adjourn it for about one and a half hours. The question hour could not take place due to adjournment.
