Second girl burnt alive in MP in a week

Sagar, MP, Mar 4 (UNI) Just two days after a dalit minor was set alight in Jabalpur district for protesting eve-teasing, an 18-year-old girl faced the same assualt and battling for life in hospital in this district.

Shahgarh resident Vineeta was teased by Jaggi, Kallu, Manoj and Prajapati yesterday afternoon. When she protested, the foursome doused her with kerosene and set her afire.

The victim was admitted to the district hospital.

Police said a case had been registered for attempted to murder and violating the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Two persons were taken into custody for questioning.

Six people were arrested yesterday for burning alive a 17-year-old at Sihora after she resisted a sexual assault, police said.
