Lokayukta sleuths arrest official for bribery
Bangalore, Mar 4(UNI) An Assistant Director of District Industrial Centre of Dharwad was arrested today by Lokayukta for accepting bribe for showing official favour.
According to a Lokayukta press release, Assistant Director Mallikarjuna demanded Rs 4,000 as bribe for sanctioning subsidy to an industry run by the complainant. However, the official later agreed to accept Rs 2,000.
The Lokayukta police caught the accused red-handed while taking the amount.
In another case, a special court convicted a Revenue Inspector and a village accountant of Anekal Taluk to undergo one year simple imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 in connection with the acquisition of property.
Revenue Inspector Thimmmarayappa and Village Acountant Parthasarthy were arrested while accepting Rs 22,000 from K R Rajakrishna Reddy of Konnappana on February 23.
