Lokayukta sleuths arrest Assistant Director
Bangalore, Mar 4(UNI) An Assistant Director of District Industrial Centre of Dharwad was arrested today by Lokayukta sleuths for accepting a bribe for showing an official favour.
According to a Lokayukta press release, Assistant Director Mallikarjuna demanded Rs 4,000 as bribe money for sanctioning the subsidy amount to his industry.
However, Mallikarjuna had agreed to accept Rs 2,000.
In a trap, Lokayukta police caught the accused redhanded while taking the amount.
In another case, a special court convicted a Revenue Inspector and a village accountant of Anekal taluk to undergo one year of simple imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 in connection with the acquirement of property.
The Revenue Inspector Thimmmarayappa and Village Acountant Parthasarthy were arrested while accepting the bribe money of Rs 22,000 from K R Rajakrishna Reddy of Konnappana on February 23.
