Congress ''betrayed'' Telangana people: TRS

Hyderabad, Mar 4 (UNI) Leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) today alleged that Congress president Sonia Gandhi had betrayed the sentiments of Telangana people.

Talking to newspersons here, the TRS leaders alleged that Congress had promised separate Telangana during the 2004 election the but failed to fulfil their promise.

They alleged that the Congress, after winning the poll with their support, had neglected the people of Telangana and had not initiated steps for its formation even after four years.

''The Congress has the habit of ditching the people after winning the elections. Earlier also, the Congress had betrayed the people of Telangana in 1969 and 1972,'' they alleged.

The TRS leaders claimed that people of Telangana would reject the Congress in the next election, as they lauded their decision to resign from the Lok Sabha, State Assembly and the Council.
