Woman, child killed as car dashes into tree

Jagadhri, Mar 3 (UNI) A woman and her new-born baby were killed today on the spot while her husband and two cousins sustained serious injury when their car dashed into a tree while saving a cyclist on Jagadhri-Ambala road under Chhappar police station in Yamunanagar district.

According to police sources, Gaurav was bringing his wife Ritu and their new-born child to home from her mother's house in village Sultanpur along with her cousins Inderjit and Om.

On the way, a cyclist suddenly came in front of the vehicle and Gaurav lost control while managing to save him.

As the car skidded and rammed into a roadside tree, Ritu and the infant died on the spot, while Gaurav, Inderjit and Om sustained severe injuries.

While Om and Gaurav have been referred to PGI, Chandigarh, Inderjit has been admitted in the Civil Hospital.

Police have registered a case.
