Suzlon Energy to spend Rs 100 cr to retrofit blades in US
New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) Country's leading wind power equipment- manufacturer Suzlon Energy Ltd (SEL) today said it will spend about Rs 100 crore to retrofit blades that were found cracked on its turbines in the United States.
''The retrofit program involves the structural strengthening of 1,251 (417 sets) blades on S-88 (2.1 MW) turbines, of which 930 blades are already installed while the remaining blades are in transit or inventory,'' the company said in a statement.
The program, to be completed in six months, will be carried out by maintaining a rolling stock of temporary replacement blades, to minimise the downtime for operational turbines, it added.
The company will utilise the blade manufacturing and service facility in Pipestone, Minnesota for this purpose.
