Silver bust of Tukaram Maharaj stolen

Pune, Mar 3 (UNI) A 1.5 kg silver bust of poet-saint Tukaram Maharaj has been stolen from the Vitthal Rukmini temple at Dehugaon near here.

The theft took place around 0530 hours yesterday, police said.

Temple priest Haribhau Dattatrey More had removed the silver bust the previous night, as per the custom, and placed it back in a small shrine outside the temple at around 0500 hours yesterday.

The priest, thereafter, went back to the main temple when the thieves must have made off with the bust, police said.
