Raids conducted on unauthorised travel agencies

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) The Northern Railways have conducted raids on several unauthorised travel agencies and arrested several touts for indulging in fraudulent reservation of tickets.

The anti-fraud team of Northern Railway headquarters conducted several checks and raids in the months of December last year, January and February this year during which several unauthorised travel agencies were identified - Netra Jyoti Opticals&Travels, Yamuna Vihar, New Delhi, Maa Durga Travels, Karolbagh, New Delhi, Madaan Travels, Karnal, STD PCO Booth, Railway Road, Jalandhar City and R K Travel Services, Ludhiana and the owners ofthese agencies handed over to the RPF for prosecution under Section 143 ofthe Railway Act, a Northern Railway release said.

In these raids, 163 reserved tickets and 100 cancelled tickets were also seized and handed over to RPF.

Raids were also conducted at Reservation and Parcel Offices where 11 touts were apprehended for sale of rail tickets and booking of parcels. These touts were also handed over to RPF for further prosecution under Section 143/144 of the Railway Act.
