Path shown by 'Gurus' should be goal of Punjabis: Rodrigues
Chandigarh, Mar 3 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gen (Retd) S F Rodrigues has said a collective and committed endeavour focused on adherence to the ''path shown by our Gurus and our vision'' to put Punjab first in the country, should be the cherished goal of the people of Punjab.
Gen Rodrigues was participating in the Alokik Kirtan Darbar as part of the Guru Manyo Granth Jagriti Yatra to celebrate 300th Year of Guruta Gaddi Diwas here last night.
He gave a call to the people of Punjab to renew their resolve to contribute vigorously to national life with a special concern for the progress and prosperity of the state.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the Governor said, ''The solution to every social issue lies in the sacred Vani and the principles enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib and we need to put them into practice with sincerity and faith.'' ''Our country has achieved a unique status in different areas in the world and the people of Punjab have made a significant contribution in this endeavour.'' He expressed hope that the people of the state will continue to play a pivotal role in national reconstruction and further the process of social change, with special focus on eradication of evils from society.
Commemorating the occasion General and Ms Jean Rodrigues were presented with Siropa and Souvenir.
Dr P S Pasricha, former DGP Maharashtra and head of the Nanded Gurudwara Board, in his welcome address highlighted the importance of the occasion and the initiatives taken by the management for the development of the historical place and to cope with the rush of Sangat in the 300th Guruta Gaddi Diwas Celebrations starting in October.
