Bangalore, Mar 3: Karnataka Soaps and Detergents (KSDL) today launched six new products in the herbal and heritage segments apart from coconut oil in the city. KSDL Managing Director B H Anil Kumar told newspersons at the launch that the public sector unit had entered into an agreement with Kerala State Rubber Cooperative to market its new product Nutrico coconut oil all over the country.

Nutrico coconut oil, manufactured under technical collaboration with an Australian company, was a premium product from fresh coconuts of Kerala and free from chemical ingredients. The company recently entered into a strategic tie-up with public sector giants Bharat Petroleum Corporation Lt (BPCL) and Indian Oil Corporation Lt (IOCL) to make available all its products at their outlets.

Under the new partnership, the company got access to 75 million homes to address their needs for toilet soaps, detergents and cosmetics, he said. ''This is a milestone agreement with the BPCL and the IOCL to make available KSDL products directly to consumers,'' he said.

Mr Kumar said the company was facing a severe scarcity of sandalwood and to overcome this it is encouraging growing of sandalwood saplings under 'Grow More Sandalwood Scheme'.

The new products included - New Wave Turmeric Soap, Wave Herbal Liquid Handwash, Sandalwood oil and new Mysore Rose Soap.

Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur was present at the launching function.
