Idol worth Rs 45 lakh seized, 2 held

Jaunpur, Mar 3 (UNI) Police today seized a precious 'ashtadhatu' idol, estimated at Rs 45 lakh in the market, and arrested two youths here.

Police Superintendent Lalji Shukla said two motrocycle bornemen were possessing the idol of Lord Gautambudh that weighs around 5.5 kg.

On frisking, two pistols and a large number of cartridges were also seized from them.

The arrested, identified as Dilip Maurya and Ashok Patel, confessed to the crime, saying they were on way to sell the idol.

Meanwhile, the SP has announced a cash award of Rs 2,500 for the winning police team.
