New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) A local court today rejected a petition filed by a former All India Radio employee who alleged a private news channel infringed copyright in her research work.

Chitra Narayan alleged a private satellite channel had broadcast a programme which infringed copyright in her research work.

She claimed before the court that the national anthem 'Jan Gan Man' was first played in Germany in 1942 and then adopted by the Indian National Army of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Ms Narayan said she had done research on the authenticity of the tape and had an exclusive copyright on it.

The court, while rejecting her petition, said she had done research when she was an employee of All India Radio. Her research, therefore, came under the category of government work and the telecast by the news channel came under the category of fair dealing and it did not infringe the copyright.
