CBI to submit Moga sex scandal report to HC by next week

Moga, Mar 3 (UNI) The CBI has almost completed the investigation into the Moga sex scandal and is likely to submit the 'challan', in the Punjab and Haryana High Court by next week.

According to reliable sources, at least nine people, including two senior police officials and some politicians, are expected to be indicted.

The list include IPS officer D S Garcha and SP eadquarter Paramdeep Singh Sandhu who is now in CBI judicial custody, two other police officials including Inspector Amarjit Singh and sub-inspector Raman Kumar, two women Manpreet Kaur and Manjit Kaur and three politicians.

The CBI would complete its entire process during this week and before the completition of investigation, It would summon sitting MLA Joginderpal Jain and former minister Tota Singh, as their names figured in the investigation, sources said.

The CBI team who has been camping here for last four days, would re-summon two police officials including Inspector Amarjit Singh now on bail and ASI officer Balwant Singh Sodhi and record their statements.

The CBI would also summon one Gursewak Singh of Gholia Kalan village under Baghapurana police station.

The Moga sex scandal case was registered on April 18, 2007 against three people on the complaint of Manpreet Kaur under various sections of the IPC including kidnapping, initimidation and rape.

During investigations, about 19 people including some politicians and police officers were named, of which 14 were arrested while others were discharged from the court.

Ironically, the complainant Manpreet Kaur along with two other women again lodged an FIR in Baghapurana police station that six people attempted to kidnap her out of vendetta.

Later, one of the accused Ranjit Singh complained to the ADGP Law and Order that Inspector Amarjit Singh, then SHO, tried to extort Rs 50,000 from him in pretext of helping him in the 'rape' case.

After investigations, ADGP law and order ordered registeration of case against Inspector Amarjit Singh for extortion.
