Budget session of Assam Assembly begins on March 3

Dispur, Mar 3 : The month-long Budget Session of Assam Assembly for year 2008-09 will commence here today. The session will commence with a ceremonial opening address by Governor Lieutenant General (Retired) Ajai Singh.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will present the Budget on March 10. At least five taxation-related Bills are likely to be tabled in the House. The State Budget session will have 19 sittings. Some major issues, including the security aspects, law and order, insurgency problem and Central Government project's misappropriation of funds will be discussed during the session.
