BJP opposes Government affadavit on Ramsetu

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) The BJP today made it clear that the Government's affadavit filed before the Supreme Court on Ram Setu was not only objectionable but also unacceptable to it.

''The issue which is related to the faith of the people should be resolved by the Government. It is wrong to approach the court for adjudication on such matters,'' BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said.

He wondered why the Government was hesitant in considering the sixth alignment for the Setu Samundaram Project which does not hinders the ancient Ram Setu-- ''attached to the sentiments of millions of Hindus''.

Mr Malhotra called upon the Centre to gave a categorical assurance that the Ram Setu would not be harmed at all while implementing the Setu Samundaram Project. The Government should tell the Supreme Court that since it was a matter concerning the religion and faith, it will be resolved by it (Government), he said.
