11,000 students take Plus Two exams

Puducherry, Mar 3 (UNI) As many as 11,000 students appeared for the XII examinations, which began in Puducherry and Karaikal regions of the Union Territory today.

According to officials from the education department, 9,288 students from 69 higher secondary schools in Puducherry region and 1,723 students from 13 schools in Karaikal region appeared for the examination.

As many as 12,00 private candidates also sat for the examination.

Seven hundred people were deployed for supervision in 25 centres in Puducherry region alone.

For the first time, the students were being given ten minutes time to first read the questions. The question paper was given to the students at 1000 hrs and the answer sheets at 1010 hrs.

In a bid to prevent the students from indulging in malpractices, the administration constituted four flying squads and announced that anyone caught would be barred for three years from writing the examination.
