UP amends rules for making CS bureaucracy head
Lucknow, Mar 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar has given his sanction for amending the UP Rules of Business-1975 and the UP Secretariat Instructions-1982 to reintroduce the Chief Secretary as the official head of the Secretariat.
According to an official statement here today, the state government sought the permission from the Governor after Chief Minister Mayawati relieved state Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh from the responsibility of the official head of the Secretriat yesterday.
The Chief Minister had also announced in the state assembly that necessary amendments would be made in the UP Business Rules 1975 and the UP Secretariat Instruction Rules 1982 to revive status quo ante.
With this amendment the earlier status of the UP Rules of Business 1975 and the UP Secretariat Instructions 1982 would be restored, which was amended in May last vesting all the bureaucratic powers to the Cabinet Secretary in place of Chief Secretary.
