Stress level high among CRPF personnel: DG
Hyderabad, Mar 2 (UNI) Stress levels are high among Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel resulting in suicides and attack on superiors, CRPF Director General S I S Ahmed said.
Inaugurating an office complex of the Inspector General of Police, CRPF, Southern Sector, Mr Ahmed said staying away from family for long durations was one of the major reasons behind the alarming growth in suicides. About 46 CRPF personnel had committed suicide last year.
Stating that the authorities were really concerned about the trend, Mr Ahmed said the CRPF was taking several steps, including provision of family accomodation, for personnel posted in remote areas.
He said the government would establish housing societies and provide loans to the personnel to own houses near places of work.
''As the CRPF Group Centres are not favourable for setting up houses, facility would be provided near offices,'' he added.
