Court orders registration of case against SSP, ASP

Etawah, Mar 2 (UNI) A local court has ordered registration of a case against six policemen, including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) over the killing of a student here.

Mukesh Yadav, student of Hembara Degree College, had died in a clash with police while staging a protest.

The youth was agitating against the alleged mishandling of Samajwadi Party (SP) state unit president Shivpal Singh Yadav by police on January 9 this year.

Two other students Sunil and Avneesh were also wounded in the incident.

One Ram Gopal of Etawah pleaded before Chief Judicial Magistrate R K Jain to book six policemen -- SSP Siyaram Sharan Aditya, ASP R P Gautam, Malkhan Singh, Krishna Saini, Rajeev Dubey and Sanjeev Gautam -- for the offence.

Yesterday, the court ordered the registration of a case against the policemen at Safai's police station.
