Suchitra Sen's condition improves

Kolkata, Mar 1(UNI) The condition of Suchitra Sen, the Bengali film icon of yesteryears, today improved, though she was still on oxygen support, nursing home sources said.

''She is fine and recovering. She slept well and ate well. She is definitely improving, though still on oxygen support,'' Chief Executive of Belle Vue clinic Pradip Tandon said.

He said it was too early to say when Ms Sen would be discharged.

Suchitra Sen was admitted to Belle Vue Clinic on Monday night with chest infection and breathlessness.

She was being attended by a three-member team of doctors.

Daughter Moonmoon Sen visited her during the day.

Ms Sen, who kept generations of Bengali film goers through the fifties and sixties captivated, became a recluse after retiring from the industry in the late seventies.

She was earlier admitted to the Belle Vue Clinic in October last year with high fever and urinary track infection.
