State Bank of Mysore Branch Manager convicted

Hyderabad, Mar 1 (UNI) Special Judge for CBI cases here sentenced State Bank of Mysore's Mahendra Hill Branch Manager K Murali and the Hyderabad based Karishma 5000 Proprietor Ashok S Patil to four years rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 each.

The Judge ruled that Murali had abused his official position as the Branch Manager and conspired with Patil in the matter of accommodation of cheques, according to a press release.

Thereby, he caused a loss to the tune of Rs 42 lakhs to the bank and a wrongful gain for Patil and himself.

The two were convicted for offences under section 120-B r/w 420 IPC and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
