Single body to manage watger supply in Guwahati soon
Guwahati, Mar 1 (UNI) Guwahati would soon have a single body to streamline its water supply, City Development Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said here today.
The city, which has been selected under JNNURM, would have a single Guwahati Jal Board for water supplly in the city limits,Dr Sharma said.
He informed that Rs 280 crore had been sanctioned at a committee meeting of the JNNURM yesterday for water supply scheme in the city.
While this scheme would include the party of the city from Fancy Bazaar area to Bharalumukh, Fatasil Ambari and the perimpharies, Asian Development Bank would finance the water supply scheme in capital complex of Dispur and a Japan-based group would provide the money for central Guwahati.
Guwahati, Northeast's largest and most important city, had been witnessing several devlopmental measures following the inclusion of the city under JNNURM.
