Minor girl allegedly commits suicide under suicide pact

Phagwara, Mar 1 (UNI) A minor girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in a pact with her lover, in Hargobind Nagar here last night, police today said.

According to police, the deceased, Jaspreet Kaur of village Sareeh and her lover Balwinder Singh, a married man, had decided to commit suicide together as their love affair was being strongly opposed by their families.

However, after Jaspreet first consumed poison, Balwinder apparently became nervous on seeing the condition of Jaspreet and rushed her to local Gandhi Hospital, where she died after some time.

Balwinder then fled from the hospital, police said.

Police has registered a case under section 306 of the IPC against Balwinder.
