Mauritius PM invites Nitish to attend "global seminar" on poverty
Patna, Mar 1 (UNI) Appreciating Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's determination to fight ''hunger and poverty'', Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam has invited him to attend an international seminar on poverty to be held in Mauritius on April 20.
In a letter to Mr Kumar, the copy of which was released to press here today, Mr Ramgoolam said his presence and deliberation in the seminar would help in evolving ''focussed and effective'' strategies to fight the battle against poverty all across the world.
''The Southern African Development Community's(SADC) international conference on poverty and development, which is being held in Mauritius following the SADC ministerial meeting with international cooperating partners and financial institutions, is an important opprtunity to quest for the poverty alleviation programmes,'' Mr Ramgoolam said. He also underlined the importance of Mr Kumar to attend the event to make it more fruitful.
Mr Ramgoolam also recalled and expressed gratitude to the people of Bihar for warm hospitality extended to him during his visit to the state last month. ''The visit to my ancestral village 'Harigaon' and unveilling of statue of my father Seewoosagur Ramgoolam in Patna was touching moment of the life,'' he said.
