Hooda announces aid for ailing Vishnu Prabhakar

Chandigarh, Mar 1 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has announced to give financial assistance of Rs one lakh to renowned litterateur and recipient of Padam Bhushan Vishnu Prabhakar for the treatment of his illness.

The assistance would be given from Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

The Chief Minister wished for the speedy recovery of 96-year-old Prabhakar and hoped that he would continue his literary work.

Mr Hooda said Sahitya Akademi Award winner, Prabhakar is an eminent novelist, story and play writer and litterateur. He is serving the literature for the last 50 years and his major works include 'Dhalti Ratt', 'Swapnmayi', 'Nav Prabhat', 'Doctor Dramas', 'Sangharsh Ke Baad','Prakash aur Parchhaiyan', 'Barah Ekanki', 'Ashoka' 'Jane-Anjane' and 'Awara Maseeha'.

The Chief Minister said Prabhakar was awarded with the Padma Bhushan and the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel Ardhanarishvara (The Androgynous God or Shiva).

He is also the recipient of Soviet Land Nehru Award, Murti Devi Sahitya Award and also the first Sur Purskar of Haryana Government.
