Haryana Power clinches national title

Hisar, March 1 (UNI) The badminton players of the Haryana Power Sports Group have won gold medals in individual contests of singles and doubles of 34th All India Inter State Electricity Boards Badminton Tournament concluded last evening at Raipur (Chhattisgarh).

A spokesman of the Haryana Power Utilities said here today that the Arjun Awardee Rohit Bhakar and pair of Virender Kumar and Surender Kumar bagged first positions in singles and doubles contests of the tournament respectively by defeating the players of the Punjab State Electicity Board (PSEB).

However, in team event, the PSEB's team defeated Haryana with a marginal difference in a tough contest played up to third game of fifth match of the final.

Virender and Surender have won gold medal of the tournament for 16th consecutive year.
